The South African Macadamia Association (SAMAC) which is comprised of macadamia nut growers, processors and marketers, recently launched its annual bursary at the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) career fair at the University of Pretoria.

Over 2 000 students that attended this year’s PMA Agri-Food Career Fair held in conjunction with the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. Different industries within the agricultural sector including Fruit SA, were at the event. Students had the opportunity to learn and gain insight into the different sectors of the industry and career choices available to them.

SAMAC also contributed to the sponsorship of a school tour arranged by Fruit SA for students from Limpopo to visit the University which was followed by a presentation by, Derek Donkin CEO of the SA Subtropical Growers’ Association, about the different careers in agriculture.

The PMA Agri-Food career fair also provides a platform for the different industries to provide internship and bursaries to previously disadvantaged students.
